First 24 hours
- People and pets out of standing water. Power only from a dry place.
- Photograph the waterline, rooms, and serials before you haul a sofa.
- Call the carrier. Write the claim number.
- Pull bulk water if it is safe. Open air out of the house.
- Do not start a flooded car. Do not sign a porch contract.
Document before you demo
Waterline with a measure. Two corners of each wet room. Contents close-ups. VIN if a car sat in it. Then you can tear out wet drywall. Not before.
