Live bayou gauges

Stream readings refresh in your browser from USGS. We never store a number or guess a trend.

Live means live.

Numbers below come from USGS Water Services at the moment you load this page. If the feed fails, this page says so instead of showing a stale or invented reading. Rising water after the rain stops is normal on Houston bayous. Pair gauges with the Harris County Flood Warning System.

Heights are gauge-relative, not flood-stage calls. A gauge can read high while your street is dry, and your street can flood while the nearest gauge looks calm. Check the gauge on your bayou, then check the sky and the street.

Status, maps, and claim portals change by the hour. Open the org site. Do not trust a screenshot from last night.

Do this next 1. Open your bayou on the Flood Warning System for trend and rainfall.
2. See your zone on the flood risk map.
3. Read checking gauges for your bayou.
